Purple Hands Dundee Hills Reserve Chardonnay 2023

Cody Wright (son of Ken Wright) launched Purple Hands in 2005 (later joined by his wife Marque), and the Reserve Chardonnay is a Dundee Hills reserve selection — sourced from blocks of the estate Haakon/Lenai vineyard in the Dundee Hills, planted in the red Jory volcanic soils that define the area. Dry-farmed and organically tended, the wine is built for tension rather than richness: bright citrus and orchard fruit, a stony mineral spine and judicious oak that frames rather than dominates. A serious, food-friendly Oregon Chardonnay from a producer better known for Pinot but quietly doing some of the most interesting white work in the Dundee Hills.
