Podere Casaccia ‘Priscus’ Toscana Rosso 2022

Roberto Moretti and Lucia Mori’s biodynamic winery, Podere Casaccia, issues some of our favorite natural wines currently in Tuscany. This red of theirs called ‘Priscus’ is in that magic zone where, fashioned from 50 year-old vines farmed beautifully, and not overwrought in the cellar, it’s both elegant in the way that Sangiovese in Tuscany can be, but it doesn’t sacrifice its vitality, joyful fruit, and being easy to drink. Think mixed Mediterranean herbs, black cherry, touch of cola, great tannic structure, dry finish. Just a true and honest Tuscan wine and will reward you with some depth, too, if you pair it at the table: pici in a tomato sauce, faro, chickpeas, lampredotto for the brave.
