Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc 2023

Mas de Daumas Gassac is one of the world’s most singular estates — the property that proved in the 1970s that the limestone-rich soils of the Languedoc could rival the great terroirs of Bordeaux and Burgundy. Aime Guibert planted here in 1971 after a Bordeaux geologist found his glacial limestone soils strikingly similar to the Cote d’Or. While the estate is most famous for its cult red, the Blanc is just as singular: a wild field blend of many varieties — led by Viognier, Chardonnay, Petit Manseng and Chenin Blanc among others — grown on those cool limestone soils tucked into woodland. The result is an aromatic, textural, ageworthy white unlike anything else in the South of France.
