Maison Roy Dundee Hills Chardonnay Incline 2017

Two men whose fathers co-founded Beaux Freres in 1991 decided to go make their own wine. Marc-Andre Roy and winemaker Jared Etzel launched the project in 2012, and the Incline bottling is where their Dundee Hills fruit lands. Dundee is best known for the red volcanic Jory soils that made Oregon Pinot famous, but Chardonnay does something specific there, and this one has picked up a savory, layered quality with a few years in the bottle. Expect rich tropical fruit and a whiff of reduction that adds complexity rather than distraction, all carried by a long finish. It’s drinking exactly where you want it now.
