The Wine
A beautifully expressive, fruitdriven Pinot Noir that captures the generosity of the 2023 vintage while still expressing the Domaines finesse-driven style. The wine opens with a lifted, aromatic bouquet ofdark red fruits, a hint of mint, supple blackberries, licorice, and a touch of mocha. These notes carry seamlessly onto the palate, where the wine shows a velvety, rounded texture and a sense of ripe, effortless charm.
Despite its approachable nature, the wine is far from simple. Theres a subtle interplay of red cherry, blackberry, and gentle spice, supported by soft tannins and a clean, persistent finish.
Pairings: A simple roast chicken with herbs, Pork tenderloin or roast lamb with mustard and herbs, duck confit or duck breast with cherry compote, mushroom risotto and caramelized onion tarts. For cheeses, reach for Comte, Tommes/Toma or Epoisses.
The Winery
Domaine Pierre et JeanBaptiste Lebreuil is based in SavignylsBeaune, a village in the Cote de Beaune region known for approachable Pinot Noir that balances charm, structure, and Cte de Beaune’s signature elegance.
The domaine works across a range of appellations from Bourgogne Rouge to SavignylsBeaune premier crus and even CortonCharlemagne but their style remains consistent and perfectly aligned with Farmstead’s selection aesthetic – pure fruit expression, gentle extraction, transparency and a focus on clarity and balance.
The Bourgogne Rouge serves as an introduction to the estates philosophy. It reflects careful vineyard work, thoughtful levage, and a commitment to crafting wines that are both accessible and true to their origins.
