Curt Schalchlin started Sans Liege, meaning “without king” after a memorable trip through the Rhone when a young winemaker expressed the envy of US wine makers’ freedom to make any wine and style they choose. And this is the sentiment carried throughout San Liege; an array of wines thatare not bound by specific regions, varietals, or traditional styles
Carbonic maceration gives a refreshing edge to the finish of this pink hued wine. The color comes from a small amount of skin contact with the splash of Malbec that is added, along with Malvasia, bringing texture and dimension. On the nose, an unexpected waft of candied red fruit leads to soft raspberries and rip strawberry on the palate, finishing with juicy nectarine. An easy drinker with lower acid.
