Gabriel Meffre Gigondas Sainte Catherine 2021

The 2021 vintage in the Rhône Valley tells a story of resilience and adaptability. Despite a year marked by weather extremes—including frost, uneven rainfall, and limited sunshine—growers were rewarded with a surprising outcome: balanced wines with a fresh, moderate alcohol content and better yields than anticipated. This unique year brings forth a blend of Grenache Noir and Syrah, cultivated on rare limestone-rich soils with Jurassic and Cretaceous marl, alongside Tertiary-era sands and sandstones. Hand-harvested and carefully vinified, the Grenache and Syrah were macerated separately to optimize aroma and fruit expression, then aged for a year in vats and barrels. The result is a vegan wine that captures the character and tenacity of the 2021 Rhône Valley vintage.
