The Fuenteseca 18 year expression is a blend of tequila distilled in copper double-column stills (75%) and copper alembic stills (25%). The spirit was initially aged for six years in Canadian white oak casks previously used for Canadian rye whiskey at an elevation of 4,600′ in Atotonilco el Alto. The tequila was then extracted, blended, and re-barreled, with some going into Canadian white oak (47%) and the rest into European oak barrels previously used to age California red wine (53%). The barrels were moved to the cooler climate of El Chapingo for twelve more years of aging.

Nose: Light aromas of pear and jasmine flower, with an enticing dry wood spice.
Palate: The entry is rich, round and creamy with hints of granny smith apple and soft vanilla.
Finish: Finish is clean and balanced with a trail of minty green apple.
Distillery Information
Enrique Fonseca’s family has been growing agave in Jalisco since the 1880s; each new generation learning how to cultivate the plant in the fertile soils of the Highland region. Today Enrique, from the fourth generation of Fonseca farmers, is the largest private owner of agave in Jalisco. However, while most of his holdings lie near his amazing hacienda near the town of Atotonilco, his distillery is on the complete opposite side of Guadalajara in the town of Tequila — a three hour drive from where he lives. Purchased from Bacardi in the late 1980s, La Tequileña Distillery isn’t the most romantic-looking distillery, but it is one of the best-equipped.
