Don Rico Aejo is a traditionally made tequila crafted from 100% blue Weber agave, with a focus on showcasing both agave character and thoughtful barrel aging. The production leans artisanal, with open-air fermentation and careful distillation before the tequila is moved into oak.
This is a double-cask aged expression. It spends time in American oak bourbon barrels before being transferred into French oak wine casks, adding an extra layer of complexity and structure beyond a standard aejo.
The nose shows cooked agave, vanilla, and warm oak, with hints of caramel and subtle fruit. On the palate, its smooth and layered, bringing together toffee, baking spice, and light chocolate alongside the natural sweetness of the agave. The French oak influence adds a slightly drier edge and a bit of grip through the finish.
A well-composed aejo that balances richness with structure. It leans into oak more than a blanco or reposado, but still keeps the agave present, making it a strong option for sipping neat.
