A well aged 22 year old edition of whisky from Knockdhu (aka anCnoc), bottled at 46% with no colouring or chill filtration. It’s a mix of American ex-bourbon casks and some Spanish ex-oloroso butts, adding a bit of leathery smokiness to anCnoc’s traditionally silky style.
AnCnoc 22 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet, biscuity aromas. Hints of manuka honey and toffee apples. Notes of mince pies, a touch of smoke and candied lemon peel. Slightly floral.
Palate: Full-bodied palate entry with notes of Corinth raisins and citrus. Hints of spice, custard and calves leather. Quite juicy and faintly smoked.
Finish: Long finish with honey and allspice.
Distillery Information
Situated in the picturesque village of Knock in the Highlands region of Scotland, the Knockdhu Distillery was founded in 1892 by John Morrison. At the time, the distillery was surrounded by acres of fresh barley and peat, and enjoyed easy access to pure spring water and the Great North Railway. When Morrison completed construction of the distillery in 1894, Knockdhu was regarded as the most modern and well-equipped distillery of its time.
