Amrian Vepkhvadze makes some of our very favorite natural wines coming from Georgia—structured and deep, aromatic but not perfume-y—this bottle of the local white variety Krakhuna should be decanted and drank at cellar temperature, not cold; it’s good to handle this like a serious red wine, even though it’s technically white (or “orange”). If you want your mind blown, find somewhere that serves Georgian khachapuri and walnut-and-spinach pkhali, or even just order from your favorite Middle Eastern or Greek restaurant: this wine is extraordinary with baked breads, warm cheese, and savory vegetable dishes.
